dear melody,

i know what exactly are you talking about. we chinese use it mainly for cooking, exp. use it to rid of smells for fish and add extra zing... however, it is usually shop-bought. if you have an asian grocer near your place, maybe you could locate a jar. sorry i can't be more helpful.
