ISO: german sausage - getta

Misc.
when i was a child, my god-mother would always make this at her camp in northern vermont. the smell would awaken me, the taste would astound me, and the memory of it still lingers. i want to make it for my family! she (sadly) no longer has the recipe, & i would be indebted to the person who can give it to me. you see, we'll travel to vermont in august to visit her at the camp, & i so want to bring some!!! it is somewhat like a home-made sausage, using pork, beef, onions, oatmeal and spices. it is pressed into a pan, chilled, sliced, and fried til crisp on the outside, moist & very tasty on the inside. she is of german descent, & i am quite sure this dish is german fare. a warm thank you to the one who can share the recipe with me...
