ISO: I need instructions for a vintage Mirro Cookie Press of how to use!!

Hi! I am going to a Christmas Cookie bake this morning and I need help with instructions with a vintage Mirro Cookie Press #M0358-22. The plunger is like a big screw. So when you are pressing down the cookie dough, it seems you have to screw the dough down thru the tube. That seems like alot of work! For my Wilton Cookie Press, the plunger is smooth on most of it, with one section it haves grooves so it is easy to push down. Can anyone help? I am doing something wrong? Thank you!
