ISO: Piccadilly's Mac n Cheese - questions

Misc.
I wanted to thank you for posting this recipe. The first time I tried this mac n cheese at piccadilly's I became addicted to it. I swear I've gain some extra weight just from eating this wonderfully delicious side dish :)

However, when i did find this recipe I became so estatic and couldn't wait to try it at home. I made it last night, and well I do consider myself a decent cook I completely messed up this much anticipated dish.

It did not turn out right at all, and I did follow the recipe word for word. The "Sauce" which is butter & flour, milk mixture came out so growse, and thick and looked like grits lol. It was not appealing at all.

Can someone help or am i just doing it wrong or what ?
Please email me with any suggestions. Thanks, Rachael
