ISO: prune dumplings (German possibly),

I am looking for a recipe for my husband that his mother made, she would have been around 90 if she would have lived. When my husband was a child during lent she made what he calls a prune dumpling. Now it may have another name too. It was made by inserting a prune inside of a ball of (I think) mashed potatoes that were mixed with possibly flour, eggs, etc., and then was cooked by dropping it in hot water or hot oil and was usually served during lent.I say it was possibly a German because both of his parents were German, however it could be another nationalities recipe too.perhaps there is a grandma that makes it or somebody that remembers that they had it.
