ISO: Recipes Using Gooseberries

Hello,

Out of curiosity I bought a half pint of gooseberries. Do any of you have any recipes or suggestions for using this small amount? How do I tell if they're still ok to use? They're a yellowish-orange color right now and pretty firm.
