ISO: Sugar cookies for cast iron cookie mold

I have a John Wright cast iron cookie mold someone gave me but I have no instructions on how to use it. I have two questions: is there something the mold is treated with that needs to be removed before baking?
Also, do I oil the mold before pressing the dough into it? None of the sugar cookie recipes I have seen specify.
