ISO: What are capers and recipes using them

Misc.

I have seen several cooks on T.V. use capers and talk about how wonderful they taste. I was so curios that I went to the store and purchased some myself. My question is--what exactly are they? They look like little "buds" of a plant. Anyway, if someone could give me some REALLY GOOD recipes using capers, I would appreciate that as well. Thanks.
