Recipe: Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain Classic Black and White Milkshake with Variations
BeveragesCLASSIC BLACK AND WHITE SHAKE
"There are two versions of a black and white milkshake that we serve at the soda fountain. One of them simply calls for a combination of chocolate and vanilla ice cream. But this one ... ohhhhh."
2 scoops (4 ounces each) vanilla ice cream
1 (2 ounce) scoop vanilla ice cream
1/4 cup cold whole milk
1/4 cup Hot Fudge (see recipe)
Place the ice cream in the blender jar and pour in the milk. Blend at a low speed for 10 to 15 seconds to break up the ice cream. Increase the blender speed to medium and blend to the desired consistency (keeping in mind that a thick milkshake works better for this recipe).
Pour the fudge in three "stripes" down the inside of a fountain glass, allowing the fudge to pool in the bottom of the glass.
Gently pour the blended milkshake into the center of the glass (your stripes of fudge should remain intact).
Serve immediately.
VARIATIONS:
THE RUDOLPH SHAKE:
Substitute peppermint stick ice cream for the vanilla ice cream. Top with 1/4 cup whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.
THE BROWN AND WHITE SHAKE:
Substitute caramel sauce for the hot fudge.
Makes 1 milkshake
