I wanted to know if anyone has heard of the jarred sauces called CHICKEN TONIGHT? And if so, do you know anything about the Country French flavor being pulled from the shelves? I have found every other flavor, but no Country french anymore.

Karen, PA
I was thinking about those sauces too? My mom used to make them for us but I dont recall seeing them in the supermarkets anymore. Now that Im a working mom myself they would be great to have. Who makes them I thought it was a Ragu product but I couldnt find it on their site. If they pulled the products maybe they will give us the recipe for Country French that was my favorite one!!

I've been searching for months now in stores or a web site and all I find are sites in the UK. Starting to wonder if they'll ship to us here in the U.S.? I wish I could find some, my kids really used to like them. Are they completely gone or are some of them still availible? If they are still around, can anyone tell me which stores carry them??? Please... Thanks

Kim in WA,
Tahnk you so much for helping me find Chicken tonight. Since moving to CO I have missed many of my favorite foods from the east coast. The site that you sent me to has gotten me my favorite things back. I truely appreciate it!

My mother and I called the Ragu company, regarding Chicken Tonight. Ragu has discontiued producing the sauces and has pulled them from the shelves.

We tried to get them to give us the recipes, so we could make them ourselves, but they wouldn't give them to us! We're bummed!

If anyone of you comes up with the recipes (or a fairly close duplication), please post them --- I bet a lot of people would want them. Thanx. Mb

when did they stop making this stuff and does it have a shelf life. I have a jar of white goo with a chicken tonight label. It doesn't have a best when used by date.

Steve (and others): I don't have an answer to when they stopped making that sauce, but you might try doing what I do when I bring groceries home. I get out a permanent marker and somewhere on the product I write the month & year of purchase. That way I know when I bought it & which can/jar is oldest when deciding which can I'm going to use & also can gauge if it's past it's "safe-to-use" date. That way, I can also use the oldest product first.

I too have been searching for the French Country Chicken Tonight sauce, but haven't found it yet. I can only find the Chicken Cacciatore. I read some of the replies and they all say that Ragu has discontinued making the sauces. Can you tell me if you had any success in finding it, or if you came up with a recipe close to it? Thanks.

I LOVED the French Country flavor of Chicken Tonight and am so sad that I can't find it anymore! I used to eat it at least once a week. Should have stocked up! For a while I had a friend in NJ get it for me but it's not on the shelves there anymore either! I wonder if there is a way to request from the company in the UK to start shipping it to the US again, because apparently it's still very popular in Britain!

If anyone figures out where you can get this (i.e. grocery store) please post!

I just ordered my country french chicken tonight sauce from www.britishhomemarket.com . with shipping, it was about $10/jar.

Our family purchased 4 cases of Chicken Tonight Country French and we're down to our last few bottles. We're going to try and duplicate the recipe in our kitchen since it is not available locally anymore.

I've tried, unsuccessfully to either get the recipe for this discontinued (in the US) product from Ragu, or reproduce it from memory. My attempts at reconstructing the recipe don't even seem to come close. Too watery, weak-flavored. Of all the products that have come and gone, this is one I really miss! So, any succes stories will greatfully apreciated.

I am searching the internet right now I found something about them in the UK I used to cook the Chicken Cacciatore alot in the early 1990's and I haven't seen them in many years in stores, even though I have lived in several states.

Wende, If you do find a place to order the Chicken Caccatore let me know where you found it. I use to make the CT Caccatore all the time. I havent been able to find anything that even comes close!

Thanks! :)

Does any one have an ingredient list for the Country French version of the Chicken Tonight sauce? TIA!

I also have tried in vain for years to find my favorite Country French sauce. There is a recipe posted on this site now that the person posting it says tastes alot like Country French Chicken Tonight. I haven't tried it yet but am going to. Do a search under Savory Dill Chicken. This recipe is also listed on the "Knorr" website. Try it and see, let us know how it is!

Thank you so much. We love this sauce and I still have some of the recipes that went with the sauces. I'm hoping to recreate it so we can enjoy that delicious flavor again.

Any idea how to figure out what to use for the high fructose corn syrup & how much. Also it says spices? Any clue what may not be listed?

Thanks again,
Laura

my son asks on a nightly basis for the Chicken Tonight Sweet and Sour sauce. Since it has been pulled I have looked for similar product and came up with nothing. Can anyone suggest something. The Chicken Tonight Sweet and Sour had a lot of sauce and covered chicken with Rice the way my sone likes. Please help. Thank you

You can go to any Chinese take out and order a container of sweet and sour sauce. purchase a can of pineapple chunks, add it to the sweet and sour sauce and follow the original recipe with the chicken (or pork). Brown the chicken, add the sauce, cover, and simmer for half an hour.

Good eating.....................Tony La Rosa

ISO: Chicken tonight

I too have been search for the jars of Chicken tonight, I know that it is still being sold in the UK and Australia. The cost for shipping is high, but you might want to try and find a British Goods store (store that sells foods from the UK) in your area. I saw one in Florida by my mother and they had the jars. I wasn't thinking at the time of picking some up...but know I wish I did. Perhaps on the next visit.

I will never understand why the "Chicken Tonight" Sauces did not survive here in the USA. I thought they were the greatest...
