Recipe: Frosted Banana Squares (cake) (Hellmann's Mayonnaise, 1981)

FROSTED BANANA SQUARES

2 cups unsifted flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup mashed ripe bananas cup
2/3 Hellmann's or Best Foods Real Mayonnaise
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 9x9x2-inch baking pan.

In large bowl stir together first 4 ingredients. Add next 4 ingredients. With mixer at medium speed beat 2 minutes or until smooth. Stir in nuts. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake in 350 degrees F oven 35 to 40 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack.

Frost as desired. Cut into squares.

Makes 9 servings
