We live in the central valley of CA (where it's HOT). A new Save-A-Lot store opened this week, checked it out today. Some very good prices, butter was lower than other cheapest store around. They gave out a sample box of freebies, 1 mac & cheese, 1 choc. pudding mix, 1 cola, 1 baggie pretzles, 1 can green beans. My son madepudding pops, & tried the cola! DH & I ate the pretzels on the way home. This store has very few name brands & the fresh meat prices were average, I can get a better buy by watching for 'loss leaders' & stocking up on meats on sale, also use my rewards cards judiciously. One store has the BEST produce in town & often has eggs and a few other very good specials each week. Hard to keep within my budget & feed 3 adult men & 1 teenage son & myself. I love checking out a new grocery! Strange! Hope a Super Wal-Mart opens here soon!
