Delicious urban legends

Misc.

The story that someone paid a huge sum of money for a secret recipe (from Neiman Marcus, Famous Amos, the Waldorf Hotel, etc.) is a fun urban legend that has been around for an amazingly long time. Anyone who is interested in the phenomenon should consult a book on the subject of urban legends...there are several of them out there and they are all good reading (check Amazon.com or the humor section of your local bookstore/library). What counts, of course, is that the recipes are usually delicious no matter how dubious the story of their origin!
