Elaine, it is my understanding that ecoli are found on the surface area of the beef to be ground. If this is a steak or a roast, the heat of cooking kills the ecoli. Grinding beef distributes the ecoli throughout the meat so...please don't be lulled into a false sense of security thinking you are safe by grinding your own meat. I don't eat ground beef anymore because of this very reason! I got sick once after eating a hamburger - VERY SICK! - and have decided to forget ground beef entirely. I hope I haven't scared you !
