Here's a description I found that might give some clues.

Not SUSHI per-say but the wildest dessert I've ever had at a
Sushi bar is served at MATSURI in Gainesville, Fla.

TEMPURA FRIED CHEESECAKE ALA MODE!

They take a slice of cheesecake, Use a slightly sweetened tempura
batter and fry it. This makes the cheesecake hot and creamy and a small
scoop of vanilla ice cream on top just puts it over the rainbow.
