Graduation Cake for preschooler

Misc.
My son is graduating from Preschool-yes they have full-fledged graduation ceremonies! His grandparents-quite a few since my husband and my parents are all divorced and remarried-will be there and then are coming back to my house for cake and punch. I want to make my son's graduation cake. I was thinking something along the lines of a sheet cake with a fruit or cream filling between layers. I can't seem to find any recipes along those lines. I had an idea of a white cake with a strawberry filling inbetween layers-does that make since? Please let me know if you have any ideas/recipes. You all have always been such a great help. THANKS!
Amy
