Help, hard glue in my flour sifter

Misc.
My dear hubbie dunked my flour sifter in hot and soapy water. I know have an extremely hard chunk of glue in between the two screens at the bottom. Years ago when I was single I did the same thing. I chose to take it apart and could not get it back together. Any thoughts on this. TIA
