Hi Tigger, the same thing happened to me

and I was really disappointed with my "football" loaf of bread. Then, I changed brands and now use Defiance which gives me a fantastic light and airy loaf. A lot of my friends have had the same trouble but I told them to use this brand with this recipe:
200ml cold water
2 cups white bread flour
1 1/4 teas yeast
in that order, and cook accordingly as per your breadmaker instructions.
