Littlenecks, Jackie - not steamers

They are the hard shell variety clams - from the quahog family - The big guys are the quahogs, the younger ones are the cherrystones and littlenecks.

BTW, we went clamming today, and I dug 166 clams!! It was a banner day - now I have to do some chowder and stuffed clams, as well as Ed doing his specialty. We had taken our friends from FL/Montana there since they had wanted to see what clamming was like - this late in the season I wasn't expecting to get more than 15 or 20 - so I was thrilled when I hit a "hole".

It was a gorgeous, #10 day here on Cape Cod.
