Living Easter Basket

Misc.

Toni, have you ever planted rye grass seed in a foil or plastic lined Easter basket? You can use either potting soil or perlite (this is much cleaner in case of accidents) Sprinkle grass seed on top, lightly cover, spray generously with water, tent with plastic until germinated, uncover and let the grass grow.

You can decorate plastic eggs by using a toothpick dipped in acrylic paints and "polka-dot". A little prep work is good here. Glue the eggs shut. Poke or drill a hole in the egg bottom. Put a wooden skewer in the egg and place the egg in a block of styrofoam to dry after it's been "decorated". When dry, you can remove the skewer or simply stick it down into the grass through the dirt and/or perlite. The eggs can also be decorated using napkin decopage or gluing ribbon around the seam. You be the judge of how messy you want to get!

Here's a poem that I recited in front of the whole congregation when I was maybe six. My mother never threw anything away. LOL

There's a message tucked away
Down in my basket small
I know you cannot see it
So I will tell you all.

Down beneath the flowers
A note is tucked away
On which these words are written
God bless you all today.
