Nix on frozen cantaloupe!

Misc.
Hi Elly,

I've bought frozen fruit salad mixes that contain cantaloupe and/or honeydew melon, and the texture of the thawed fruit is sorely disappointing. It does turn mushy, and the packages generally suggest serving the fruit in a semi-frozen state.

If you have an overload of cantaloupe, I'd recommend making it into something like sorbet before freezing... and even then, I'd keep it frozen only a few weeks. Sorry, but the fruits of summer generally don't freeze well for the winter. Enjoy 'em while you can!
