questions about claussen pickle recipe

Misc.
Just curious about a few things about the pickle recipe for claussen tasting pickles !
I have never pickled anything before but i am an extremely board pregnant housewife.. i want to make pickles !
So.. my questions..
First..
What are pickling cucumbers ? Can you use normal cucumbers or whats the difference? Can i cut them in half and pickle them that way ?
next..
'add weight to keep pickles under the brine' ???

???? what do you mean exactly?

and..
what is the exact order ? ok, mix the ingredients.. i got that... but you talk about processing at the end of the recipe... ? Is processing the 'pickling stage'?
Sorry, i am a total rookie.. i have a cooking handicap... but i really want to make these pickles !!
A step by step instruction would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks,
Amy
ps. what kind of jars do i use ?
