Hi Mary,
I also live in Louisiana. What part of the state are you from? I'm from north La.
I have had a Dak for ages but never used store bought mixes but I don't see why you couldn't use them just so you put the dry ingredients on bottom like the manual says.
It's so easy to do from stratch though why would you want to buy those high priced mixes.
