re: Homemade Vanilla Extract

Dear Donna,

While this recipe for vanilla extract doesn't say to split the beans, other recipes do call for splitting the beans. I think opening the beans should give it a more intense flavor but I wonder if using whole beans will make a clearer extract if that is needed? If you experiment with it please let us know how it turns out.
