Re: Roasting Bags

Misc.

DEAR NANCY,

OVER THE YEARS I'VE USED THEM ONCE OR TWICE BUT THE REAL TEST CAME WHEN I WAS
HAVING 10 PEOPLE OVER FOR THANKSGIVING DINNER THIS LAST NOVEMBER. NOW WHEN I
WAS YOUNG (BEING 55 YRS. NOW) AND HAD ALL THE ZIP AND ENERGY OF MY YOUTH.... I
USED TO THINK THAT I WAS INVINSIBLE AND SO I COULD STAY UP ALL NITE IF
NECESSARY IN ORDER TO "PUT OUT THAT FANTASTIC DINNER" SO TO SPEAK. WELL...ALL
FAMILY.. PLUS KIDS WERE COMMING AND I BEGAN TO REALISE MY IMORTALITY. THANK GOD
FOR MY HUSBAND WHO BEGAN TO PREACH THE USE OF THOSE "BAGS" WHICH I CONSIDERED
AS STUFF MADE BY TITTY BABIES AND NOT FOR THE LIKES OF WHICH I WAS MADE OF.
YOU SEE, WE BOUGHT A HOUSE WITH A RATHER SMALL OVEN (WHICH WAS NEEDED FOR OTHER
FOODS AS WELL, AND WE HAD ORDERED A RATHER LARGE TURKEY WHICH...BECAUSE OF IT'S
SIZE...WOULD HAVE REQUIRED ME TO GET UP AT GOD KNOWS WHAT HOUR OF NIGHT. THAT
GIVEN WITH THE FACT THAT MOST OF THE FAMILY WAS ARRIVING AT 2AM THE VERY NIGHT
BEFORE (OR I GUESS THAT DAY)...I DIDN'T NEED THE ADDED STRESS OF THE USUAL MODE
OF COOKING THE TURKEY. ANYWAY TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT...THANKS TO MY
HUSBAND'S BADGERING, I USED THE BAGS...AND VOLIA!!! ONE OF THE MOST SUCCULANT,
MOIST AND BEST TASTING TURKEYS THAT I HAVE TASTED IN YEARS AND TO BOOT...IN 1/2
THE TIME! THE DINNER WAS A SUCCESS WITHOUT A LOT OF THE USUAL STRESS THAT I
WOULD HAVE EXPERIENCED HAD I NOT FOLLOWED HIS ADVICE! SO MY STORY IS THIS:
SOMETIMES IT IS GOOD ADVICE TO USE SOMETHING THAT YOU ARE NOT USED
TO...AFTERALL "ALL LIFE IS AN EXPERIMENT" DO YOU NOT THINK??....AND BY THE SAME
TOKEN....SOMETIMES...SOMETIMES....MEN DO HAVE GREAT, WONDERFUL...AND GOOD SOUND
THOUGHTS AND SHOULD BE IMPLIMENTED.....SOMETIMES...HA HA!
I GUESS WHAT I'M SAYING IS GIVE IT A GO AS YOU CAN'T FAIL!

MIT LUF....LINDA
