SYLVIA'S CAKE
Source: Woman's Day Encyclopedia of Cookery, 1979
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 whole eggs
2 egg yolks
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups blanched almonds, ground (measure before grinding)
Orange Frosting (recipe follows)
Cream butter, then gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs and yolks one at a time, beating well after each. Add flour in small amounts, mixing after each addition just enough to blend.
Stir in almonds and put in 9-inch tube pan lined on bottom with waxed paper.
Bake in preheated slow oven (300 degree F.) 1 hour, or until done. Turn out on plate and, while still warm, spread with frosting.

2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
Grated rind of 1 orange
1/4 cup orange juice
