SONNY'S BBQ BEANS
FOR THE BBQ SAUCE:
3 parts ketchup (3 cups)
1 part yellow mustard (1 cup)
6 tbsp brown sugar
3 tbsp white granulated sugar
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
3 tbsp cider vinegar
FOR THE BEANS:
1/2 pound smoked bacon
1 onion (diced)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 lg can Bushes original baked beans, drained
2 cups BBQ sauce as shown above
Combine the ingredients for the BBQ Sauce; set aside.
Beans best cooked in cast iron pot. Cut bacon on small pieces; place in pot over medium high heat until tender. Do not drain bacon grease.
Place diced onion in pot cook until clear.
Reduce heat to medium place brown sugar in pot; mix well. Add BBQ Sauce and drained beans.
Place pot of beans in smoker at 250 degrees F for 2 hours. Use hickory wood in smoker. Do not place a lid on pot. Enjoy.
