Julie, this is one we always make in our home:
Pound Cake
1 c. margarine
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla OR lemon extract
1 tsp. baking powder
2 c. flour
1/2 c. milk
Cream together the margarine and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat for 5 minutes on high speed. Add vanilla. Slowly add the dry ingredients alternately with milk. Pour into wax paper-lined loaf tin, 9"x5" and bake at 350 degrees F. for approx. 70 minutes, or till cake tests done. In a convection oven like I have, you can bake it at 325 degrees F. Check for doneness after 55 minutes.
