Recipe: Ballerina Cookies, Candy, and Cupcakes - re: ballerina treats Lisa, Albuquerque
Holidays, CelebrationsHi Lisa, Here are a few ideas for you.
First, you could bake sugar cookies and either cut out ballet slippers, or decorate the tops of round cookies with ballet slippers. You can buy ready to use frosting in cans at the grocery store. You could also put each ballerina's name on hte individual cookies.
If you have a candy or cake supply store close by you could also check there for candy molds. They will also sell candy melts that you can use for the molds in various colors. Candy melts are also available at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and Wal-Mart. I know they make ballerina themed candy molds and all you do is melt the candy discks and pour into the mold. Let them set and turn them out to use.
One last idea, you could bake cupcakes and decorate the tops using frosting to make ballet slippers, their names, or anything else you find appropriate.
At above mentioned stores they sell something called tuck-n-ruffle. This is a lacy ruffle you tuck under the bottom of cakes. It could be used to fashion little tutu's on your cupcakes. You would need to cut the appropriate size to sorround the cupcake then secure ends with icing or a toothpick to hold in place.
Hope this will help!
