Block Party Baked Beans
rec.food.cooking/Don & Kathy/1995
Servings: 25

2 pounds ground beef
2 cups chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
1 (10-3/4 oz) can cream of tomato soup, undiluted
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1/2 cup ketchup
1 (16 oz) can green beans, drained
1 (17 oz) can lima beans or pounds frozen lima beans
1 (15 1/2 oz) can wax beans, drained
1 (15 to 16 oz) can chili beans, undrained (kidney beans)
1 (16 ounce) can pork and beans, undrained
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
chili powder (optional)*

Brown the beef. Drain off grease. Add onion and celery. Saute until crisp tender. Add remainder of items. Simmer until thickened. In a crock pot, you can leave it on low for 5 to 12 hours. Serve with crusty bread.

It does freeze and microwave to warm with ease.

*I often add several tablespoons of Gebhardt Chili powder. This is a local brand to the intermountain west. I buy it by the dozen bottles when I am in Arizona. It has no salt in it. McCormick makes a Mexican chili powder which also has no salt. Not the same flavor, but ok.

Happy Cooking!
