MEATLOAF (TO DIE FOR!)
FOR THE MEATLOAF:
1 lb extra lean ground beef or ground turkey
1 (12 oz.) can luncheon meat (i.e. spam), ground, chopped, or cut into tiny cubes.
1 cup oats*
1 small yellow onion, chopped.
1/2 cup milk (or however much mile meat loaf seasoning calls for.
1 egg (or however many meat loaf seasoning calls for)
1 pkg brown gravy mix
1 pkg meat loaf seasoning mix (the type that calls for 2 lbs of meat)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
FOR THE TOPPING:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 tbsp prepared mustard
1/4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
TO MAKE THE MEATLOAF:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix all ingredients for the meatloaf together; place in large loaf pan.
Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
Remove meatloaf from oven and raise oven temperature to 400 degrees F.
TO MAKE THE TOPPING:
Mix together brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, and 1/4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce; pour over the meatloaf.
Return loaf to 400 degree oven and bake for 1/2 hour more.
*If meat loaf seasoning mix is the type that does not call for bread crumbs, use 1 cup of oats. If meat loaf seasoning mix is the type that does call for bread crumbs, use oats in place of bread crumbs, the same amount of oats as the package says for bread crumbs, but use oats instead.
