Recipe(tried): Blooming Onion

We all know how to prepare the onion... here's the best batter mix I know...
2 cups of flour
4 tablespoons of baking powder
2 tablespoons of powdered Wasabi( can be found at any asian grocery store)
1 tablespoon of red pepper
1 tablespoon of powdered ginger
SIFT AND COMBINE ABOVE INGREDIENTS
One Large egg
2 Tablespoons of Patis ( can be found near Wasabi, get liquid)
2 Tablespoons of "Good", Kikoman or similar, Soy Sauce
1 Tablespoon of Rice Wine Vinager
1/2 cup of water

Mix with dry ingredients, and add water, one teaspoon at a time until batter is consistency of runny pudding batter.
Coat "bloomed onion" with batter
Steam battered Onion for five minutes over double boiler of Dark Beer
Place onion in Freezer for 20 minutes
Deep Fry at 400degree oil for 5-7 minutes
Dipping sauce:2 tbs each: Mayonaise, Wasabi, ranch dressing, parmasain cheese, catsup,pickled relish, soy sauce. Please Email comments to Schenck@swbell.net
