Recipe(tried): Burger Kings Whopper
SandwichesIn 1954, in Miami,Florida, James McLamore and David Edgerton built the first Burger King Restaurant. By 1991 more than 6,400 Burger King outlets could be found in forty countries and all fifty states. That gives the burger giant more than $6 Billion in sales each year, making it the countries second largest fast food chain (Mcdonald's is the Largest by far).
The Whopper is overwhelmingly popular; figures show that Burger King sells more than 540 million annually, or nearly 2 million each day. And with more than 1,023 different combinations of the eight-or-so ingrediant.
The following is a top secret recipe from one the top chefs at Burger King and there are some close ones on the net but this is the only exact one from the actual blue print from BK World Headquarters. This has been a favorite of mine to make at home for years and now I will share with other due to the $2.99-$3.99 cost per sandwich. Use as I direct and this will be the best burger duplicate you ever made.
Ingredients- Just the beggining dont just throw together and think the tast will be the same.
1 Sesame-seed Hamburger Bun
1/4 pound ground beef
dash salt
3 dill pickles slices (Hamburger Dills)
1 teaspoon catsup
3 to 4 onion rings mild
2 tomato slices
1/4 cup chopped lettuce(IceBerg)
1 Tablespoon mayonnaise (Helimans or Kraft) (Off brand not tried)
1. Preheat a Barbeque grill on High.(10 Min gas lid closed)
2. Toast both halves of bun, face down, in a hot skillett. set aside( I use the Barbeque 3 min a side.
3. Form the beef into a thin patty slightly larger than the bun.
4. Lightly salt the hamburger patty and cook on the Barbecue grill for 2 to 3 minustes per side.
5. Build the burger in the following stacking order from the bottom up:(most important part to follow if you want to taste like BK)
bottom bun
hamburger patty
pickles
catsup
onion rings
tomatoes
lettuce
mayonnaise
top bun
*makes 1 Whopper Hamburger
Important Bit
It's important that your barbecue grill be clean so that the hamburger will not pick up the taste of any food that was previously cooked there. Some foods such as fish, are especially potent, Also, be sure your grill is good and hot before cooking hence the 10 min. for gas grill and white coals for regular grills. Make sure lid is kept shut to preheat open to cook.
