Recipe: Chocolate Shoo Fly Pie

Top Part:
2 cups brown sugar; 1 cup lard or oil; 2 eggs; 4 Tbsp cocoa; 2 cups molasses;
2 1/4 cups flour; 2 cups hot water; 2 Tbsp. baking soda; 2 Tbsp. vanilla, 1/2tsp. cinnamon; and 1/4 tsp. salt.

Mix sugar, oil, eggs and cocoa. Add soda to molasses and hot water. Add to the first mixture, then add the flour, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla.

Bottom Part:
Cook together: 1 qt. water; 1 1/4 cups sugar, butter size of walnut; 2 tbsp. cocoa; 3 tbsp. clear jell; and 1 tsp. vanilla. When cooled, put in a unbaked pie shell, add top part. Bake at 325 for 1 hour. When cool frost with a chocolate frosting.
