Lolita: Shoo-Fly Pie (No Eggs Version)

I guess everyone has decided that your request is for Shoo-Fly Pie. In that case, I'm posting my grandmother's recipe from Old Lehigh County.
1-1/2 c. flour
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter or lard
1/2 c. light molasses
1/2 c. hot water
1/2 teasp. baking soda
Combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Set aside. Mix together molasses, water, and baking soda. Divide evenly between 2 pastry-lined 8-in. pie pans. Top each with 1/2 of the crumbs. Bake 450*F for 10 min. Reduce heat to 350*F and bake 20 min. longer, or until firm.
