Recipe: Classic Layered Salad (make ahead, using lettuce, peas, ham and cheese)

CLASSIC LAYERED SALAD

8 cups chopped iceberg lettuce
1 small red onion, sliced, separated into rings
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas, thawed
1 (6 oz.) pkg. smoked ham, chopped*
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp. sugar
1 cup Kraft Three Cheese Crumbles (or crumbled or cubed cheddar cheese)
2 small tomatoes, chopped

Layer lettuce, onions, peas and ham in large straight-sided clear glass serving bowl.

Mix mayo, Parmesan cheese and sugar. Spread over salad to seal; cover. Refrigerate several hours or overnight.

Top with cheese crumbles and tomatoes just before serving; toss gently.

*Substitute 8 slices bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled, for the chopped ham.

Makes 8 servings, 1 cup each
