CRAZY CRUST APPLE SQUARES
"This easy dessert has real down-home appeal. It's especially nice for picnics because it requires no refrigeration."
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup plus 1/3 cup sugar, divided use
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2/3 cup 2% milk
1 egg
1/2 cup raisins
3 cups peeled and sliced apples (3 medium)
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 13x9-inch pan.
In large bowl, combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; mix well. Add milk and egg; blend well. Spread in greased pan. Sprinkle raisins, apples and pecans over batter.
In small bowl combine 1/3 cup sugar and cinnamon; mix well. Sprinkle sugar mixture over top.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 40 minutes or until edges are light golden brown and apples are tender.
Makes 12 servings
