Recipe: Crazy Quilt Bread (Bisquick recipe, using candied fruit and nuts)

CRAZY QUILT BREAD

3 cups Bisquick baking mix
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3/4 teaspoon anise flavoring
1/2 cup mixed candied fruit
3/4 cup walnuts or pecans, coarsely chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Well grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.

Mix together Bisquick, sugar, milk and egg; beat vigorously 30 seconds. Batter will be slightly lumpy.

Blend in anise, fruit and nuts. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake 45 to 50 minutes, or until toothpick stuck into center comes out clean. Crack in top is typical. Cool before slicing.

Makes 1 (9x5-inch) loaf
