SPICE CONES
3/4 teaspoon all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
6 tablespoons vegetable shortening
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 tablespoon brandy
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine the flour and spices; set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream vegetable shortening and sugar. Beat in the molasses and brandy. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Drop the dough by spoonfuls 2 1/2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 5 to 6 minutes, until golden brown. As soon as the cookies are cool enough to handle, remove them from the baking sheet and roll up around metal cone shapes. Place seam side down on wire racks to cool.
