Recipe: Cream of Mushroom Soup (using bread to thicken, Oster blender recipe, 1950's)

CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP

1 cup sliced mushrooms
1/8 medium onion
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 cups milk
2 slices white bread, broken into pieces
1/2 cup celery
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash of pepper

Saute mushrooms and onions in butter or margarine.

Put the remaining ingredients in the blender container. Cover and run at Lo speed about one second. Turn to Hi Speed and run until smooth. Add the mushrooms and onions. Process at Hi Speed until mushrooms are finely chopped.

Pour into a double boiler and cook 20 minutes.

Serve piping hot with buttered toast.

Makes 2 3/4 cups
