Children's Kiddie Oven Chocolate Cake

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup vegetable shortening

Combine the dry ingredients. Stir until blended. Cut in the shortening. (Mixture will look like cornmeal.) Package in 1/3 cup portions. Keeps up to 12 weeks. Use 1/3 cup of mix plus 4 tablespoons water. Follow oven directions.

Crazy Cake for Toy Oven

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

4 1/2 teaspoons flour
3 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon cocoa
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
dash salt
1/8 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1/8 teaspoon vinegar

Mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Add vanilla, vinegar and vegetable oil. Place in a greased toy cake pan. Pour 1 tablespoon of water over batter. Mix lightly with a fork but do not beat. Bake 10 minutes.

Quick Toy Oven Cake

2 tablespoons commercial cake mix, such as Jiffy
1 tablespoon water

Mix cake mix and 1 tablespoon water (use only enough to make a cake batter consistency). Place in greased cake pan. Bake for 10 minutes.

Toy oven Biscuits

1/4 cup commercial biscuit mix
4 teaspoons milk

Combine biscuit mix and milk with a fork. Drop by half-teaspoonfuls onto a well greased pan. Bake 10 minutes.
Makes 8.

Toy oven Chocolate Cake

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

6 teaspoons flour
4 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa
3/4 teaspoon shortening
pinch salt
6 teaspoons milk

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa, shortening, and salt. Add milk. Pour into greased baking pan that comes with the toy oven. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
Note: if you do not want chocolate cake, omit the cocoa and add a drop or two of vanilla with the milk.
