Recipe: Easy Nut Bread (makes 2 loaves, Good Housekeeping, 1970's)

EASY NUT BREAD

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
4 teaspoons double-acting baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
2 eggs
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped

Grease two (9x5-inch) loaf pans.

In large bowl, with fork, mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt; add remaining ingredients; stir until well mixed. Pour batter into loaf pans. Let stand for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Bake loaves 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 minutes; remove from pans and cool completely on racks.

Makes 2 loaves
