Herbs and SpicesEMERIL'S ESSENCE (CREOLE SEASONING)
A basic spice mixture used in dozens of Emeril Lagasse's recipes. Mix it up and keep some on hand to kick any dish up a notch!
1/4 cup garlic powder
1/4 cup salt
2 tablespoons dried oregano
2 tablespoons dried thyme
2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons onion powder
5 tablespoons sweet paprika
Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl and blend well. Store in an airtight container in your spice cabinet for up to 3 months.
HOMEMADE CREOLE SEASONING
1/4 cup salt
3 tablespoons granulated garlic or garlic powder
3 tablespoons ground black pepper, freshly ground if possible
1 tablespoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper, or to taste
Combine all seasonings and mix to blend thoroughly. Pour into a small jar with cover; seal tightly.
CREOLE SEASONING
