Recipe(tried): Fried Cabbage

Side Dishes - Vegetables
This is my version of FRIED CABBAGE. I got the recipe from an old cook book that I got from my grandmother and made some alterations:

1/2 pound bacon
1/2 cup onion
1 head cabbage
2 tablespoons water
1/4 cup sugar
salt and pepper

Fry bacon. After frying, remove the bacon from pan and use the bacon grease to fry onion until tender.

Cut 1 head of cabbage into quarters and separate some of the leaves so you can layer around skillet. Add sugar, 2 tablespoons water, and salt and pepper to taste. Cover and fry, stirring occasionally, on low-medium heat until cabbage leaves wilt.

Add fried bacon slices to top and fry 5-10 more minutes.

This is great over hot cornbread...hope you enjoy!!!
