Recipe(tried): Fried Cabbage

Side Dishes - Vegetables
FRIED CABBAGE

1 head of cabbage
salt and pepper to taste
2 to 3 strips of bacon or 2 Tbsp bacon grease
water

Wash cabbage and discard outer leaves. Cut out excess core and discard. Chop Cabbage into quarters lengthwise, then cut each quarter into half widthwise. Put cabbage into a large pot and add water to about 1 inch depth. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer and cook 10 minutes.

Meanwhile in a large skillet fry bacon slices (If using bacon grease omit this step). Drain and reserve drippings. Cool bacon and crumble.

Drain cabbage and place into large skillet with reserved drippings and crumbled bacon. Add salt and pepper.

Fry 3-5 minutes or until tender and thoroughly heated.
