Recipe: High Altitude Cooking and Baking Tips and Info
Recipe CollectionsBaking at High Altitudes - re: Why are my cookies flat?
"Hi Mary, You live at a high altitude and just like cakes, cookies often need more flour at that altitude. I am a 6000 ft. and so I always test bake 2 or 3 cookies to see if there is enough flour in them. If they go flat, I add about 1/4 cup flour to a 3 dozen cookie batch and try again. Hope this helps." - Susan

I live at an elevation of... (re: High Altitude Recipe For Sugar Cookies Or Christmas Cookies)
"I live at an elevation of 7000 feet. Try using 1 small pkg. of instant vanilla pudding in your recipe of chocolate chunk cookies. Sometimes if I am making a cookie that is chocolate, I add 1 small pkg of. chocolate instant pudding. Make sure that you blend all of the ingredients together really well. Hope that this works for you. The pudding helps to keep the cookies soft and moist. I have never tried this in sugar cookies though." - sharon

re: High Altitude Recipe For Sugar Cookies Or Christmas Cookies
"I live at about a mile high in Sierra Vists Az and have never had a problem with the altitude making cookies. We also have cabin in Alpine, Az (you're Mom may know where that is as it's only abou 3 1/2 hours from Albuquerque. We go shopping there when in Alpine sometimes) Alpine is 8000 ft and I have never had a problem there either. Now cakes and breads are an entirely different matter. Perhaps it's her oven. Has she checked the temperature of it?" Nalani AZ
