Recipe: Jiffy Brownies (Kellogg's All Bran recipe, 1960's)

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
JIFFY BROWNIES

3 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
2/3 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup Kellogg's All Bran cereal
1/2 cup chopped nutmeats

Melt chocolate and butter in heavy 2-quart saucepan over low heat.

Remove from heat. Add sugar and stir until well blended. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add to first mixture together with All-Bran and nutmeats and mix well. Spread in greased 8x8-inch baking pan.

Makes 16 (2-inch) squares
