Recipe(tried): Josie's Buttery Fudgy Brownies with Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting, Chocolate Drizzle, and White Chocolate Drizzle
Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, BarsThis is a Very good, very rich recipe from a Better Homes & Gardens 1997 Annual Recipes Ad sent to me to try and sell me the book. I made it wil ALL the frosting and drizzles, of course!
JOSIE'S BUTTERY FUDGY BROWNIES
1/2 cup butter or margarine
3 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2/3 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 recipe Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting with Drizzles (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a medium saucepan melt butter or margarine and unsweetened chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; cool.
Meanwhile, grease an 8x8x2-inch or 9x9x2-inch baking pan; set aside.
Stir sugar into chocolate mixture in saucepan. Add eggs, one at a time, beating by hand just till combined. Stir in vanilla.
In a small mixing bowl stir together flour and baking soda. Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture; stir just till combined. Stir in nuts, if desired. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
Bake, allowing 30 minutes for an 8-inch pan or 25 minutes for a 9-inch pan. Cool on rack.
Before serving, if desired, frost with Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting, then spoon or pipe with Chocolate Drizzle and/or White Chocolate Drizzle.
CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
WITH DRIZZLE
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
2 to 4 Tablespoons powdered sugar
1 recipe Chocolate and/or White Chocolate Drizzle (optional)
In a small saucepan melt semisweet chocolate pieces over low heat, stirring constantly. Cool. In a small mixing bowl stir together the cream cheese and sugar. Stir in chocolate till smooth.
Spread frosting over cooled brownies. Let frosting set, then top with Chocolate and/or White Chocolate Drizzles, if desired.
CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE:
1 oz. unsweetened chocolate
2 Tablespoons margarine or butter
2 Tablespoons milk
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

WHITE CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE:
