MY MOTHER'S POTATO SALAD
I was taught to make the potato salad with the same ingredients you mention. Except for the addition of a little mustard and no vinegar. Maybe that is why she used the mustard, gives it a nice tang. Oh and pickle relish was added too, sometimes. We never used to measure anything; it was all done by sight and taste. A small amount for a small bowl or you made a lot for a crowd.
boiled potatoes
hard boiled eggs
chopped onions
chopped celery
Kraft Miracle Whip
1 tbsp (more or less) French's yellow mustard, always to taste (optional)
pickle relish
salt and pepper to taste (optional)
dash of paprika on the top
This is the same way everyone I know makes it.
My great grandmother owned a restaurant and I guess that is where the recipe came from. That would make it a 4th generation thing.
Hope this helps.
