Recipe: New Zealand Honeysuckle Cake (using vanilla wafers)

NEW ZEALAND HONEYSUCKLE CAKE

CAKE:
2 1/4 cups crushed vanilla wafers
1/4 lb butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup quick cooking, rolled oats
1/2 can plus 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 tsp grated orange peel
ICING:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 oz butter, melted
2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
pinch of salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.

Place all ingredients except 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk in a mixing bowl; blend well. Press into prepared pan.

Bake until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely and cover with icing.

ICING:
Mix icing ingredients together until smooth.
